A former Chick-fil-A employee orchestrated a bizarre scheme involving fake mac-and-cheese orders to steal over $80,000 after being fired. Keyshun Jones, who worked at the location in Grapevine, Texas, reportedly initiated this fraudulent activity shortly after his termination.
The investigation into Jones began in November 2025, following reports from the restaurant’s owners about numerous suspicious refunds. These alerts coincided with Jones’s dismissal from the Chick-fil-A establishment about a month prior to the discovery of the fraudulent transactions.
According to documents, Jones allegedly created approximately 800 fake orders of macaroni and cheese and subsequently issued refunds to his personal credit card. This elaborate scheme raised red flags among the management when they noticed an unusual pattern of refunds.
On April 6, 2026, a warrant for Jones’s arrest was issued as investigators delved deeper into the financial discrepancies. Surveillance footage reviewed by authorities showed Jones behind the counter after his termination—a detail that has raised questions about how he gained access to the register.
Jones was apprehended on April 17, 2026, and now faces multiple charges including property theft, money laundering, and evading arrest. The total loss attributed to these fraudulent refunds is estimated to exceed $80,000.
Experts note that schemes involving fake orders and fraudulent refunds are common forms of employee theft within the restaurant industry. However, how Jones managed to execute this plan undetected for so long remains unclear.
