Chase Claypool Attempts NFL Comeback with Green Bay Packers

Chase Claypool, once a promising NFL receiver, is attempting a comeback at the Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp, following two seasons away from the league due to a series of injuries and disappointing performances.

Claypool, who was a second-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2020 NFL Draft, showcased significant potential during his rookie year with 62 catches for 879 yards and nine touchdowns. However, his trajectory took a downturn after being traded to the Chicago Bears in October 2023, where he managed just eight catches for 77 yards and one touchdown over 12 games.

His last appearance in an NFL game occurred on January 7, 2024, while playing for the Miami Dolphins, where he recorded only one catch for three yards. Following this game, he faced a challenging period that saw him released by the Buffalo Bills after suffering a toe injury during training camp.

On July 3, 2025, Claypool announced his intention to make an NFL comeback. He now joins seven other players at the Packers’ minicamp in hopes of reviving his career. Coach Matt LaFleur commented on Claypool’s impressive shape and productivity during workouts, stating, “He’s had some great film out there. He’s been productive and he looks like he’s in great shape. And he’s big. We’ll see how it goes.”

Despite these positive assessments, observers remain cautious about his ability to return to form given his recent struggles. Claypool himself expressed optimism about his future, saying, “I deeply and truly believe that the pieces will align, and I will work my way into the position to show off what’s been suppressed these last two years.”

The outcome of this minicamp may prove pivotal for Claypool’s aspirations as he seeks to secure a spot on an NFL roster once again.
