Two U.S. service members are currently missing following a hiking accident during the African Lion military exercise in Morocco on May 2, 2026. The soldiers disappeared near a cliffside close to the Atlantic Ocean while off duty, raising concerns about their safety.
The search and rescue operation, initiated by both U.S. and Moroccan forces, began shortly after the soldiers were reported missing around 9 p.m. Initial reports suggest that the two soldiers may have fallen into the ocean, though officials have not confirmed this information.
