In a significant move to enhance passenger comfort on long-haul flights, United Airlines has announced the introduction of the United Relax Row. This innovative seating option will allow travelers to enjoy a dedicated row of three economy seats that can transform into a couch, providing a more spacious and relaxing travel experience.
The United Relax Row is set to launch in 2027 and will be available on more than 200 Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft by 2030. United Airlines is making history as the first North American airline to offer this unique seating arrangement, which will be exclusive to the airline in the region.
Each Relax Row will feature individually adjustable leg rests, allowing passengers to customize their seating position for optimal comfort. Additionally, customers traveling in this section will receive enhanced amenities, including a custom-fitted mattress pad and extra pillows, further elevating their in-flight experience.
Andrew Nocella, Chief Commercial Officer of United Airlines, emphasized the airline’s commitment to providing industry-leading experiences, stating, “As a leading premium airline, we’re committed to delivering new, industry-leading experiences for all of our customers – and the United Relax Row is the perfect example of that.” This initiative reflects United’s ongoing efforts to innovate and improve passenger comfort.
In addition to the Relax Row, United Airlines has introduced a dynamic seat map that allows families to book seats together, ensuring that children under 12 can sit next to an adult for free at the time of booking. This feature is part of United’s broader strategy to cater to family travelers.
Furthermore, children can pre-order meals on select flights where complimentary meals are served, and the airline offers a curated selection of inflight entertainment specifically designed for families.
