The stadium, which last hosted a Super Bowl in 2020, has been a significant venue for such events, having held a total of 11 Super Bowls, tying it with New Orleans for the most in history. However, recent developments indicate that the NFL no longer considers it a viable option for future games.
Documents show that the area around Hard Rock Stadium has undergone transformations aimed at accommodating other major events, such as the Miami Open and Formula 1, which have altered the landscape of hospitality offerings available to Super Bowl attendees. Sources say that these changes have led to a perceived deficiency in adequate hospitality space necessary for an event of this magnitude.
Stephen Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins, acknowledged that Miami is currently not positioned to host another Super Bowl, stating emphatically that “Miami is not really in line for one.” Furthermore, he indicated that officials believe the stadium lacks sufficient accommodations to meet all NFL requirements.
The NFL’s assessment highlights specific concerns regarding hospitality areas, which are critical for accommodating fans and sponsors during such high-profile events. The next three Super Bowls are scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in 2027, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2028, and Allegiant Stadium in 2029, further indicating a shift away from Miami as a potential host.
