Erika Kirk Appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board
Erika Kirk has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by President Donald Trump, a significant move that continues the legacy of her late husband, Charlie Kirk, who served on the board before his assassination on September 10, 2025. Erika Kirk will serve a minimum of three years or until a successor is chosen, filling one of the two currently vacant seats on the board, which consists of 16 total seats.
In her new role, Erika Kirk will be responsible for making recommendations to the Secretary of Defense and the president regarding various aspects of the Academy, including morale, discipline, curriculum, and fiscal affairs. “President Trump made the perfect choice in appointing Erika Kirk to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors,” said White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales.
Erika Kirk, who is also the CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA, won Miss Arizona USA in 2012 and earned her Juris Master’s from Liberty University School of Law in 2019. Her appointment is viewed as a continuation of her husband’s commitment to inspiring the next generation of service members.
Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, who chairs the board, expressed confidence in Erika’s ability to carry on her husband’s work. “Erika is the right person to fill Charlie’s place on the Board and continue his work of inspiring the next generation of service members and advancing the Academy,” he stated.
Charlie Kirk was known for his bold Christian faith and deep love for the country, qualities that observers hope Erika will bring to her new role. “Charlie Kirk served proudly on the Board, inspiring not only the next generation of servicemembers, but millions around the world with his bold Christian faith, defense of the truth, and deep love of country,” Wales added.
As Erika Kirk steps into this influential position, she is expected to advocate for the Academy’s mission and uphold the values that her husband championed. The board’s responsibilities include inquiring into various matters relating to the Academy, ensuring that it maintains its standards of excellence.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any specific initiatives Erika Kirk may pursue during her tenure. However, her leadership at Turning Point USA and her personal commitment to service suggest she will be a formidable advocate for the Academy and its future.
