Demario Davis Signs Two-Year Deal with New York Jets
Demario Davis is leaving the New Orleans Saints after eight seasons and has agreed to a two-year deal worth $22 million with the New York Jets. The contract includes $15 million in guarantees, signaling the Jets’ commitment to the veteran linebacker.
Last season, Davis set a career-high in tackles, recording 143 tackles, a half-sack, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery during the 2025-26 season. His performance has solidified his reputation as a key defensive player in the league.
Davis, who was drafted by the New York Jets in 2012, previously played for the team until 2015 and returned for another stint in 2017. He started all 131 regular season games he appeared in for the Saints, in addition to playing in five playoff games, showcasing his durability and consistency.
Over his career, Davis has amassed over 1,500 career tackles, 45 sacks, nine fumble recoveries, and four interceptions, making him one of the most accomplished linebackers in the NFL. His accolades include being a five-time All-Pro and a two-time Pro Bowler in 2022 and 2023.
As the oldest full-time defender at his position in the league, Davis’s experience will be invaluable to the Jets. Observers expect him to play a significant role in helping head coach Aaron Glenn establish a strong defensive unit.
Tom Pelissero noted, “This is a big loss for the New Orleans Saints,” highlighting the impact of Davis’s departure on the team. His contributions over the years have left a lasting mark on the franchise.
While the Saints will incur $14.29 million in dead money due to Davis’s exit, the Jets are optimistic about his potential to elevate their defense. Davis’s leadership and on-field performance will be closely watched as he embarks on this new chapter.
Best of luck to Davis in what may be the final chapter of his NFL career, as he aims to make a significant impact with the Jets once again.
