St. Joseph ISD Considers Career & Tech Center

Survey results conducted by EPIC-MRA for the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District indicate 57% of voters would support the construction of a Career & Technical Education Center.

But not two.

The results were discussed at this week’s meeting of the ISD’s Board of Education. Tommy Cameron, the ISD’s CTE director, said the survey was conducted to assess voter opinion of CTE Center options. Besides focusing on just one center, the survey showed just over half had no preference where the new center should be built, but 38% gave a preference for having it located at the campus of Glen Oaks Community College.

According to Cameron constructing a CTE Center is estimated to cost between $15-18 million. He stressed in order to get a millage adopted to finance the project a highly effective voter communication effort will be necessary.
